Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Pakistan Muslim president League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday visited Abbotabad to see relief measures taken by the district administration for snow affected population. North West Frontier Province Governor Lieutenant General Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah (Retd) informed the Prime Minister that relief operations were going on with full swing although bad weather was hampering the work in some of the hilly areas.
The governor informed that relief items were also being dropped from helicopters in inaccessible areas. The government, he said, was trying to restore road links for easy access to the affected people.
The governor said that district administrations of the affected areas had also been directed to make detailed assessment of damages to further facilitate rehabilitation work, The governor said cash assistance to heirs of deceased as well to other affected people has been paid.
